It’s sort of a cross between exhaustion and excitement – the mood in the office. For weeks we’ve been living, breathing and creating the Michigan Nurses MARCH. The goal was to get 1,000 people there and when we crossed that target with registrations, the reality began to sink in. Over 1,000 nurses and nursing students! Wow!
1,200 bags of information are packed and hundreds of name tags are being stuffed. The media advisory has gone out to local Lansing outlets. Suzanne Gordon’s books are waiting at Gibson’s Bookstore in downtown Lansing to be transported to the Lansing Center. Legislators and their aides by the dozen have been notifying of us of their intention to attend the luncheon. Rally signs for the MARCH! itself are printed, all the exhibitors are ready to go and Suzanne Gordon is on her way. Virg Bernero, Lansing’s mayor and a gubernatorial candidate, will join us on the Capitol steps.
Tonight several of us will follow the truck with all of our supplies down to the Lansing Center and get everything moved in so we’re ready for tomorrow. Our new Flickr and YouTube accounts are poised to have photos and video moved on to them for everyone to see. NOTE: If you’re not going to be at the MARCH, you can still follow the action. Just go to www.search.twitter.com and enter #MIRNMarch.
And the forecast? Mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50’s. Couldn’t be better.
I’m ready to MARCH! See you tomorrow!
